Setool box space engineers11/4/2023 I have not provided the option to create asteroid spheres in SEToolbox, because it's generally accepted that a perfect sphere is not a realistic asteroid shape and that people would want to create their own unique shapes, and not lot of Space Balls. On occasion I have gotten a request for a more specific asteroid sphere or other shape, and those I have also added to the Workshop. In the early days, this code was quite slow, and tended to crash Space Engineers if I made an asteroid too big.Īfter a while, I realised that these test asteroids might be of interest to the greater community, so I have been occasionally posting them here on the Workshop for anyone else to use. The test code simply calculated the distance from a centre point, and filled it as appropriate. The 'dwarf planets' as shown in my link above, were originally born out of the need to test the asteroid code, and make sure it works as anticipated for reading and writing to asteroid files. SEToolbox does not generate asteroids of its own.Ĭurrently you have the options of selecting from the existing stock asteroids provided with the game, importing an asteroid from another saved world, or converting a 3D model.Ī few people have have been creating some wonderful realistic asteroids recently thanks to the 3d conversions. As I am the developer of SEToolbox, and the creator of the dwarf planet asteroids, I am in the best position to answer your questions.
